Make Bootable Flash Drive to Install the OS

There are several ways that we can use when installing the OS on a laptop / computer , one of which is already widely used and most easily by using a flash. By using a flash we get some advantages , such as not have to buy tapes containing data to install the OS , and can be used on a laptop that does not have a CD / DVD ROM.

So that the flash can be used as a medium to reinstall the OS , we should make it into a bootable flash . Why should it be used as a bootable ?, the answer is very simple, so that the flash can be booted properly by the system. In addition we also need to have its OS installan file , I suggest the files have the extension .iso.

In this tutorial I will use software called Rufus . This is because the software is proved to be faster than any other software such as Unetbootin and the Universal USB Installer .

Here are the steps to create a bootable flash drive . 1. Insert the flash drive into the USB port , and open software Rufus , if there is a UAC dialog click on Yes . 2. In the Device field select the ones you want to bootable flash , replace the Create a bootable disk using to ISO Image. Then click on the icon of the cassette which is right beside the ISO Image.

3. Then find and select the file installan OS , in this tutorial I'm using Windows XP image . If you already click on Open .

4. Then , click on Start.

5. If there is a dialogue like this click on OK .

6. Wait for a moment during the process of charging data to the flash, if the green bar is full then you can mengclose window Rufus and eject and retract the flash .

You 've been able to install the OS with the flash on your computer / laptop . In this tutorial I use Rufus version 2.2 , because when using the latest version ( 2.3 ) flash I actually do not read on Rufus.
